Puja has been on stage dancing to Bollywood beats at the wee age of 3 years old. Whether it was performing for a large crowd or family friends, Puja was eager to dance to Indian music.
Being an Indo-Canadian, Puja was exposed to the Indian culture both at home and within the Ottawa community participating in all kinds of festivals around the city. Growing up, she was taught ceremonial mantras in Sanskrit, yoga and how to play bhajans (religious songs) on the harmonium but dancing and acting was by far her favourite.
Along with her sisters, Puja was putting on shows at Indian weddings and events however it wasn’t until an inner calling took her to India in 2012 that she began teaching Bollywood.
For the past four years Puja has been teaching Bollywood at an ashram tucked away in the foothills of the Himalayas in Northern India. It was through this process that she realized dance was woven into the very cells of her being and since moving back to Ottawa she was itching to start dancing again, that’s when she discovered Bollywood For Fun. She instantly knew she had to get in touch. She is excited and thrilled to be a part of this troupe and begin dancing with the ladies of BFF!
