Asian Heritage Banner Unfurling Event

May is Asian Heritage Month in Ottawa and the Ottawa Police Service is participating in a number of activities this year. In partnership with the Ottawa Asian Heritage Month Society (OAHMS), we will unfurl a banner at Ottawa Police Headquarters, 474 Elgin St., on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. This event will celebrate the culture and contributions of Asian communities and the banner will be on display at our Headquarters building until Thursday May 31st, 2012. The new Chief of Police, Charles Bordeleau, Ottawa Police Service Board Chair, Eli El-Chantiry, OAHMS’ President, Michael Harrison and other will address the crowd, and the event will include the colourful sights and distinctive sounds of Lion dancers and drummer, belly dancers and singing. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremony. Members are invited to attend. In case of inclement weather, refreshments will be served in the lobby at 474 Elgin Street.
